Hollow ground scandi
Hollow ground scandi
2017
This simpler knife was inspired by the shapes of traditional Scandinavian puukko knives, but instead of the usual flat or diamond geometry this knife has been hollow ground from spine to edge.
The edge is quite thin and easy to sharpen, making this knife ideal for leatherwork or other crafts.
The blade has a rougher finish than I would usually go for because it is clearly meant as a working knife.
In keeping with the simple theme, the bolster is made from copper that will age beautifully over time and the handle is made from elm wood with basic decoration.
The handle of this knife would also be an ideal canvas for woodcarving.
The sheath is veg-tan leather dyed red and features a belt loop, it holds the knife very securely.
